Upcoming Society Events - 2009-2010




What: Twmpath (Welsh Folk Dancing)
Where: Hibernian Hall in Albany
Who: Gail Griffith, caller & live musicians
When: Sunday November 8, 2009 from 2-4 pm
Cost: $10.00 per person (covers the cost of hall rental & musicians)

Late spring every 2-3 years, Festivities all day 9 to 6 Chatham, NY, Fairgrounds.

Welsh information booth @ Altamont Fairgrounds, Altamont, NY
Labor Day weekend - Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm

St. David's Day Dinner:

First Sunday in March 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Best Western across from SUNY. Cost is approximately $25 per person, cash bar available.
Near March 1st, an annual banquet is held in honor of St. David. Dinner reservations are required. A guest speaker or artist is featured.

Owain Glyndwr Celebration - "Pub Night:"

An informal gathering (Fri or Sat eve) in the autumn each year at "Peint O Gwrw" Pub, 36 Main Street, Chatham, NY 581-392-BEER

The Gymanfa Ganu Hymn Sing:

First Sunday in October 2010 @ 2:30 p.m. Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church 2291 Western Avenue (between Routes 155 & 146) Guilderland, NY, 518-456-4510 The Gymanfa Ganu is an inter-denominational hymn sing/church service held in October of each year at an Albany area church, featuring a guest conductor and accompanist. This event is open to the public; there is no admission charge, but a free-will offering is sometimes taken. The service is immediately followed by a reception (te bach) in the fellowship hall. Bring your WNGGA hymnals!

Welsh instruction:

Private tutoring in Welsh is available from Robert Jones, a professor of languages at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. For information, phone Robert at 377-7970. Please feel free to join us at one of our events. We are non-political and inter-denominational with members from all professions and economic levels.
