Originally, this society was incorporated in New York State on February
29, 1932, as the St. David's Society of Schenectady.
There were other small Welsh groups in the greater Capital District,
but none had officially registered with the state as a non-profit
corporation, save for the Schenectady Society. .
Due to declining membership, death of the founding members, and lack of
energetic leadership, the Schenectady society gradually began to merge
with Welsh members in the Capital District, and hence, a new society
began to emerge with a greater sense of vision.
In 2002, we amended the name of the corporation to "The St. David's
Society of the Capital District" to reflect our more wide-reaching
appeal.
